| MBA Reports in the Rize |
| | Posted on August 1, 2008 12:14:05 PMStunning, we think so, but an all mountain bike shouldn't be sold on looks alone, it has to perform better than you could ever imagine. So with a clean sheet of paper Cannondale engineers created the Rize, 130mm of supple, balance suspension. Or as MBA say's the do-it-all machine."Cannondale has always been the leader in design and manufacture of proprietary components. This commitment totally frees designers to go at it without being limited to use off-the-shelf components and standards. The Rize is a showcase of Cannondale SI, starting with the 3D-forged BackBone. Other SI stunners include the Lefty Max Carbon fork, Hollowgram SL cranks, Headshok SI headset/stem and the Lefty SI hub. It is a shame to mention each part so briefly, because they all deserve a test of their own"Below are comments from the "Wrecking Crew" themselves:This bike would be considered incredibly light for a short travel, dual-suspension cross-country race bike, and seeing that it is actually a five inch-travel trail bike sweetens the deal. The Rize doesn't care if you push giant gears or spin your brains out. It responds with a laterally rock-solid bottom bracket You have a lively singletracker that slices, carves, and pretty much holds the line you tell it to. Added credit goes to the Lefty fork. It eliminates flex issues the the new crop is 15mm thru-axle equipped forks are trying to solve. The Rize rider will bury other five inch travel trailbikes on long climbs. The efficient drivetrain and bikes featherweight join forces to flatten trailsIn Closing: The Rize is a trailbike that thinks it's a cross-country racer. It's light, responsive, slim and just as effective on a forty-minute lunch loop as it is on a six-hour, I-can't-believe-I-road-the-whole-thing epic excursion. The Rize is a trailbike with a lot of heart. For the complete review head down to your local magazine rack, grab the latest issue of Mountain Bike Action with the Rize on the cover. Enjoy... |
